What You Think About That

Great song by Montgomery Gentry that explains land use ordinances.

  1. What most folks don't seem to understand about these Land Use Ordinances/Shoreland Zoning maps is that the State is "asking" the towns and communities to divulge where our wetlands, steams, public access points, etc. are and having us do up local maps (because the State doesn't have the money or staff to do them). Once we/townships file them (and go along with the buffers that will stop development - even on land people already own), individuals will be subject to government authorities which have hardly been even friendly to individual rights. The more we "give" away in even information to the State, the more we limit our own rights on our bought and paid for property - not that that will stop any level of government from taxing us as much as they can get away with.

Maine USED to be for liberty and the rights of the individual. Things have sure changed in the last 30 years - and NOT for the better.
